Korean Long is a paste-type tomato cultivar known for its slender, pointed fruits and sweet, mild flavor, grown chiefly as a sauce tomato on tall, long-bearing vines.
Variety details
Distinguishing Traits
Korean Long produces slender, elongated paste-type tomatoes that taper to a distinctive pointed nipple at the blossom end, with fruits reaching up to 200 grams. The flesh is raspberry-pink and meaty, carrying few seeds, and the flavor is sweet and mild. The fruits also resist cracking and hold up well in storage after harvest.
Uses
As a paste-type tomato, Korean Long carries less water in its flesh than a standard slicer, making it well suited to sauce, puree, and other cooked preparations. It is grown specifically as a sauce tomato rather than for fresh eating.
Performance
The plant grows on tall vines that carry their soft pink fruits over an extended ripening period. Once the first fruits begin to color, the vines continue producing right up until frost.
