Distinguishing Traits
Amethyst Glow is a semi-evergreen climber reaching about ten metres, with rounded dark green leaves made up of five leaflets that are blue-green beneath and take on a purple tint through winter. In early spring it bears fragrant purple female flowers alongside paler pinkish male flowers, both carried together in racemes twelve centimetres long. Fruit set is not guaranteed each season, but when it occurs the blooms give way to purple, sausage-shaped fruits up to ten centimetres long.
